I'm a relatively new guitar player, asking for help with selecting replacement guitar strings. I want to maintain the current sound and feel of my newest tele when I change strings for the first time. I have 3 other guitars but I like the sound of this one most.

The guitar is an FSR Black Paisley Telecaster, which is supposedly a Mexican Standard Telecaster except with the special finish.

What gauge of strings comes standard from the factory? Do you have any other tips in selecting replacement strings for this model?

Regards,
Mike.

I'd imagine they would be 9-42, that seems to be the norm for OE Fender strings.

As an aside, that's the first time I've seen that finish, and I really like it.

Thanks, I really like it, too. I went into the store planning to buy the sunburst CVC I had been considering/wanting for months, as also shown in the picture. The Black Paisley was sitting there calling to me. Limited edition, probably never see one again, I thought. So I bought the Black Paisley on a whim. Then I couldn't give up the sunburst CVC so I went back a few weeks later and got that one, too.

I concur. Most new guitars I've seen come with 9s in nickel plated steel.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I always thought they were 10's.... but maybe because thats what I use on mine. :)
If you look through the specs of the tele's on Fenders site....(for tele's)

Fender® USA 250R NPS, (.010-.046 Gauges)
or..
Fender® USA, NPS, (.009-.042 Gauges)
Etc....

they seem to vary quite a bit, but on the Mexican standard on the main site....

Fender® USA Super 250L, NPS (.009-.042 Gauges)

I'd probably start there tbh... wouldn't have thought youd be able to pick 'em up at your local music store but you can find them online pretty easily. Good luck.

I figure your guitar probably came with 9/42's. I keep a small zero to one inch micrometer in my string bag and can check the string dia. if I forget what I've been using or am using a new or guitar I'm unfamiliar with. About a year ago I aquired a small inexpensive lable maker from the office supply store and I now make a small lable with the string gauge and stick it on the back of the guitar usually on the spring cover on the back of my strats, and on the neck plate of the others. Really saves time when you break one and have to change it on the fly.
