I am thrilled that my dealer was able to get me one of the special run, limited edition Fender Telecaster's MIJ, only about 240 made that were offered at the winter Namm Show for independent dealers. I should have this guitar in a week or so, after the case comes in on order. I can't decide on which case to get, tweed or the black Fender one. What is the census on what case to get?
These guitars look so cool with the natural finish on it, black pickguard, maple neck. Looks similar to Bruce Springsteen's guitar he has on the album cover of Born to Run. Anyone obtained one of these guitars and what is your opinion on it> :D

Bruce's guitar is a 2-pickup Esquire.

Hard to go wrong with tweed. There is also a matching tweed strap that Fender makes that looks really good. Matched set!

As far as the guitar, it's a Telecaster, can't miss!

Bruce's main axe for many long years was an original 1952 2-pickup Esquire which has been stripped down to natural.

Bruce uses a '52 butterscotch blackguard reissue since the 1990s, date during which the old Esquire has been retired from active service.

You're quite right, it's a '52 blackguard reissue. Springsteen bought this guitar in the 1990s to replace the old Esquire he played extensively since 1972.

Yea I decided to go with the tweed case. I should have the guitar next Wednesday, if the case comes in this week from Fender.

My dealer has advised me that the guitar came shipped to them from Fender without any kind of paper work or swag in the box. I find that very strange that not even a warranty card came with the guitar. Does anyone know if these guitars should have any swag or paper work shipped in the box from Fender? I have never heard of this. Any guitar I have bought from Fender, whether from the Custom Shop etc., came with the warranty information and some kind of swag. Any feed back on this will help to see if I need to have my dealer contact Fender or myself. Thank you :D

I'm sure your dealer could check with Fender about this. My personal thought about it (and I could be wrong) is that the guitar is being sold at such a "rock-bottom" price that it will be supplied with the minimum listed, which is, I think, a gig-bag. There will be no "swag" or accessories with that. Maybe a hang-tag is all.
For warranty, you will have your sales receipt.

The guitars look like amazing value though! :)

Just a hang tag, nothing else comes with it. I had to order a tweed case for it.

Thank you Rob for the information. I buy a lot of Fender Custom Shop guitars and I thought I would try something different and from what I have read on forums, the MIJ guitars are superb instruments. :D

All of my CIJ/MIJ Fenders have been some of the best. Currently they have a CIJ 54 reissue Strat that has a Tele feel to the neck. I need to see if I can sell some guitars to be able to get one, it's awesome!
