The technician has fixed the loose socket. He opened the controls’ cavity and I could see the conductive paint shielding. He was impressed by the guitar “It could carry the Fender logo with no problem”. As for the other issues… they are not issues. The buzz is really loud compared to the test I ran in the shop. I do not understand what is different. The “shaking shades” sound continues to annoy me; they said is perfectly normal (something about a compressor). On the other hand, Roland’s support said it’s not normal. :D

Thank you all.

Pardon me for highjacking this thread, but it does pertain to the subject.

I'm thinking of refocusing my future purchase from a Jag to a Tele. I've been looking at the 2012 American Standard. The local store doesnt have on in stock. Other than some slight tonal differences in the maple v/s rosewood, which I most likely will not be able to hear, could someone give me an their opinion as to which neck feels smoother to play?

Thanks

I own a modern player tele. It is a fantastic guitar. It is really a versatile guitar. You can get the classic tale sounds, some of the start sound, and a really hot lead pickup quick can be cut to a single coil. The finish on these guitars is absolutely beautiful. Well constructed. Easily playable right out of the box. The maple neck is super fast.

It's been my experience that Squiers lose half their values or more if you buy new. Fender MIM's as well lose half their value. Buying either guitar used you should be able to get your money back. I like Fender and Classic Vibes the same. The Fender will have better resale, the Squier will be harder to resell. If you buy a Fender MIM for $250 which is the normal used price here you can usually get your $250 back when you sell it. Can't go wrong with the Squier or Fender though. Both are nice guitars, neither is better. I've owned both and like the Classic Vibe as much as the MIM. The general public though will always see the Fender as being more desirable though. You might just wanna go for the Fender if you can afford it because when you are playing the Squier you might think "I wish I had a Fender". That's what happened to me. I had an Affinity Squier and always wondered what having a real Fender would be like. After having some Fenders and other guitars I realized that the Squier Classic Vibes and other budget guitars are nice guitars and real guitars and could see why older players liked them so much. They are good for the price, will hold up for years and serve you well and they have good pickups, finish, attention to detail, etc. Good luck with whatever you decide!
