I've been seeing pictures of Teles with Tv jones/gretsch pickups in them. Would putting a tv jones pickup in a neck position of a tele be worth it? I love the sound of gretsch and teles both. I play bass and am looking to upgrade my tele to be a goos overall, multi usable guitar to record with when my bandmates won't lend me their guitars ;) Anyone have a good picture or something of that combination?

The Cabronita Tele has what appears to be Gretsch type humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. Tele spec's say "Fideli'Tron™ humbucking pickups" while Gretsch spec's say "High Sensitive Filter’Tron" on the Chet Atkins models and "TV Jones Classic" Humbuckers on others such as the Brian Setzer They look very similar. Maybe worth testing the Cabronita to see if it gives the sound you want. Fender and Gretsch are the same company underneath it all...so maybe.

If it doesn't have a power tube in the circuit...I'm not that interested

Why not a Rosewood Tele with a pair of Filtertrons to pay homage to George?

I saw a YouTube of Bill Frisell with what looked like a Filtertron in the neck position of his Tele, but some say it's not.

Can you ID this pickup? :

Mine has a TV Jones Classic in the neck. Definitely worth it!

This guitar is made for rockabilly! :P

Is that TV Jones humbucker splittable?

No, it's just a standard 3-way switch. You could probably order it from TV Jones with split coils.

The TV Jones neck pickup can be matched with a FilterTron humbucker in the bridge.

Personally I like seeing a Tele with three frying pan "toaster" pickups a la Rickenbacker 325!

Yep, the Telecaster Thinline Super Deluxe has TV Jones Fidelitrons. Limited edition guitar made in Japan in white or black with coloured headstock, binding, block inlays, and C-neck. Basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard.

I had been holding off getting a thinline, but when these came out I knew I had to get one. All the top end ring you expect from a telecaster, but with genuine punch through the mid-range, particular when you put a bit of overdrive into it.

And just beautiful .... The ones that came to Australia, I don't think there were too many, disappeared fast, so if you want one, start hunting now.
