Want an overwound single-coil pickup for stinging blues-rock leads a la Albert Collins?

With the 5-way selector you'll get the early Collins sound as Albert didn't start using a neck humbucker until 1966!

Image

The best recipe to nail his signature blues tones is a silverface Quadreverb 100W RMS combo and a extra long guitar cable!

Still un soldered as I'm waiting for two 500K pots and a five way.
My local fender store didn't have 500K's nor did the radio shack (big surprise) !

Did the humucker utilize a 4-conductor cable? This is necessary to tap/split the front coil from the neck pickup.

Also you'll need a .022 capacitor and a 270K resistor.

Yes four conductor cable and I have tons of nos caps and resistors
But not one stinking 500K pot in my county , nor a five way strat switch !
I placed yet another order to Antique Electric Supply.

My local Fender store has been waiting for weeks for an order of parts and accessories from Fender, and tells me its typical to have to wait forever for shippments.

It's Indiana folks not Bangladesh !!!!

AES should get me my parts by mid week.
Trust me I'm looking for ward to what this Tele will be capable of.

Just got myself one of those Custom Vibrolux Reverb amps with mods
Does a very nice ZZ top with my Strat, can't wait to hear this monster through it !

My tweed 59 bassman (Clark Piedmont) will rock out too, I'm guessing 8)

Red wire from Humbucker to ground ????
That seems kinda odd

First and foremost, what a pain in the back side !!!
I got my 500K pots my 270K resistors and my five way.
Not the same five way in the fender layout by the way ! and so you cant coil tap the humbucker and you most likely wouldn't like it if you did, half a vintage wound bucker is only about 4.5 K or so (((Pretty weak))) !
So I wired it in using the original three way, i put the 270K inline with the bridge yellow wire and put the red and white from the bucker together, black to the switch.
I used a .02 Molded NOS Sprague cap from center on the tone pot to ground on the volume pot.
So what do I have ????
I have #1 (closes to the bridge) Humbucker only, very warm, not overly dark.
Then #2 I have both pickups active
Then #3 I have both pickups active
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
What the heck !?!
Should be bridge alone on #1
Both on #2
Bucker alone on #3

OK guys I've basically rewired entire Bassman heads and done multiple Cap jobs, Why is this so hard ????

Leaving my above posts to allow for honesty
The yellow lead from the bridge does NOT ! connect right next to the black lead from the bucker
And when you install it correctly the whole thing works ! 8)

Here she is in all her glory, i cranked the Dirty Girl (JTM45 clone) and my Clark Piedmont(59 Bassman on steroids clone) and played a few 70's style Hard Rock riffs and smiled for about 20 minutes after :D
The bassman clone has Reverb also and an attenuator that I've never even plugged in.

Something is still not exactly right, Switch towards the neck gives me just the neck humbucker, both the middle and bottom possition activate both pickups, why isn't the bridge only working ?????

It would be nice to be able to isolate that one for certain tones !

I used a 220K Carbon comp on the bridge to keep it from being overly bright with the 500K pots and it works great !
