I have a 2007 MIM Tele... When I switch
from the bridge pick-up to the neck
pick-up the volume is much lower...

Does that mean the neck pick-up needs
to be raised ???

If so,,, is that what the two screws are
for on either side of the neck pick-up ???

Thanks,,,

I think, or hope, poorboy56 was just joking, because YES, you can use the screws on the sides of the neck pickup top adjust its height to get equal output level from both pickups....

Don't worry. At first I thought the screws were there for manufacturing purposes. ^^

Don't be afraid to try, the worst that can happen is you'll have to pay for a new setup if things get too out of control. (and I have the bills from my tech to prove it!!)

I've heard that a lot, and I always hear people complain about how much their set-ups cost, but I'm pretty sure I've never paid more than $20-25 for one, regardless of if it was for my Strat or my J-bass.

How much are you guys paying for set ups?

50 to 75 is a good price range, but i never seems that i dont get out of there for less than 100.

As far as the pu's, one thing i always do is crank mine up as high as i can get them with out interference, i get more of a growl out of my guitars. Now i will say, you lose some sustain, but it is worth it for me.

If there is drastic changes in volume between the pu's then you need to let a tech look at it, you may also have some wiring issues

Yeah, is it a real drastic difference?

I would just raise the neck pup and see what happens, but don't raise it all that much. If it's still a problem, it could a pup or wiring/switch thing.

I've tried raising my pup a few times, and it make sno differance. Either a pot is on it's deathbed, or your wiring is less than perfect, or the pup has malaria. Get a tech to give it a diagnosis  .

Now in English: Have a tech look at it, it's either a dying pot, a dying pup, or a lose wire.

That's not correct. Raising and lowering pickups does change the amount of output.

Also, pots, pickups and wires don't die slowly, as a rule. They fail, completely, all at once.

A standard set-up, without any nut work, shouldn't cost you more than $50.

I don't understand your post, Jim. He tried raising it and it didn't make a difference--BECAUSE there must be something wrong with the pup or the wiring.

And what do you mean they all fail at once? That makes no sense.

I am pretty sure he means its like when a light bulb burns out. It either works, or it just dies instantly.
