Years ago I purchased a black Tele w/ rosewood finger board and pearoid pickguard.

It had a Tele bridge pickups (I think) and two Strat pickups.

The control was backwards: knob, knob and 5 way switch.

I just can't remember what this model was called. Some Nashville Tele of some sort. Does anyone remember the model I'mdescribing?

I don't think so. I'm familiar with the '90 Tele Deluxe.

It may have been, I don't know. The PO added a phase swicth when he removed the middle pup, and even this was removed when I got it. When he removed the pup and replaced the switch, he added a new (incorrect) Black 3-ply PG probably because it was the cheapest option.

I added the 'correct' Tortoise one. Now I just have volume and tone + 2-way switch.

I thought about reinstalling the middle pup, but then I'd have to go out and get a 'straight' Telecaster. If I want a middle pup... that's what my Strat is for.

I don't think the Nashville Telecaster Deluxe is ever going to rise in value enough to justify restoring it to original spec.

cheers!

The guitar in question is an early Custom Classic Telecaster. Has two Texas Special Strat single coils in the neck & middle and a Texas Special Tele pickup in the bridge.

Yes, that too...if the guitar was Custom Shop.

Unlike the 90's Telecaster Deluxe the Custom Classic has 22 medium-jumbo frets and the choice of rosewood or birdseye maple fretboard. It also sports a slab body made from select alder or premium ash.

In 2003 Fender updated the Custom Classic Tele with a pair of Twisted single coils.

A "no-load" pot replaced the TBX circuit and the middle Strat pickup was deleted.

Though the series was officially gone in 2009, Custom Classic guitars and basses are available as a custom order.

The guitar I owned was not made at the custom shop. I think it was MIM or MIJ.

For those who are interested about the early Custom Classics, late 90's Pluses and MIJ Deluxes:

It was MIM and was a 'Nashville' Telecaster Deluxe !

It was the only one available standard in the color/PG combination w/ Rosewood you describe w/ 3 pups.

Mine is a '99 - Arctic White.

cheers!

Nashville Teles had a middle Strat pickup sandwiched between two Tele singles.

I stand corrected. That's exactly the way my Tele looked, only in black. Thanks for finding that ad for me.

By the way, it looked great and was a lot fun to own, but I never really liked the way it sounded. I ended up trading it and a MIM Strat for my EC Strat.
