Hi,
I have just started a new project on a nashville telecaster deluxe. As I am refinishing it I have sanded the body back only to find a layer of something that seems to be a white filler of sorts on both the top and bottom edge, as I am thinking of staining it I need this gone, but I don't know how to go about it,
any ideas? :?:

IMO wood with some filler must be paint only if you don't want to see the filler.

Good question . Binding is all around not only on top and bothom edge.

I hope tele4life know if it is binding or wood putty .

It should be a sealer/filler/primer. It's basically a thick primer that is easier and faster to sand smooth for paint than getting the wood that smooth. and the end or edge grain is going to have the thickest coat.

Yes , with hole in the wood ( body ). Why do you think Fender put wood filler ?

There is no hole in the wood. in places you can see the grain through the filler.
So if you are just going to be condascending then please do not bother posting on this thread again

you might try a paint stripper to get the filler off but you'll will still have a lot of sanding to get the desired finish for a clear coat. good luck, just take your time be careful using sanders as you might alter the edge radius before you know it.
