Hi there,

I'm about to custom order a Telecaster at the custom shop (surf green, double binding, rosewood board, hevay relic) and I'm using the custom calculator. As an option it says 'handwound pickups'...what vintage years are there to choose from? Are these the Abby handwound pickups? Could I choose a let's say '59 type telecaster bridge pickup? Or is it 'just' the regular Nocaster and '63 thing?

Thanks!

Have you been and had a chat to a Showcase dealer.

I have just ordered a Jazzmaster and I found the best thing was to go and talk though with the dealer exactly what I wanted.

My local one had all the neck shapes I wanted to try and pickup combinations as well.

Plus any time spent playing a bunch of Fender custom shops is time well spent.

So you know I ordered last sunday and have been quoted 4-6 months on my Jazzmaster.

I assume you mean same as the SRV model of Strat ... although the Tele Texas Specials are not exactly identical to the Strat Texas Specials.

Texas Specials were chosen for his signature model but he himself did not use Texas Specials in his number one. Had he lived maybe he might have used them but we will never know now. He played custom wound pups (custom ... meaning truly custom, as in just for him alone) and they were closer to the Custom Shop Fat 50s than the Texas Specials.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
