I was looking at a FSR Tele on musicians friend, and thought to myself, "Man that Tele would be super awesome if it had a whammy bar." Does anyone know if Fender ever tried to put a whammy bar on a Tele.

Yes, there are a couple that spring to mind. The Telecaster Deluxe from the '70s had a vintage Strat trem, and the Deluxe Tele Plus could have a two point Strat trem and roller nut.

Just a little nit-pick here.
It was called a Tele Plus Deluxe, not Deluxe Tele Plus.
I had one.
There was also a Tele Plus without the Deluxe designation.
They were made in USA.
Calling it a Deluxe first sort of implies "American Deluxe", which it was not.

These years of Fenders were not well recieved by all. Many people objected to the Poplar-wood bodies veneered with Alder. The Strats started having the swimming pool routes around this time and the Lace Sensors were also the subject of much criticism.

My Tele Plus Deluxe was unique, which I found out after I had already sold it. It must have been made by mistake. They had a Blue sensor at the neck. Mine had a Gold Sensor at the neck. The solder connections were clearly untouched. It came from the factory that way.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Thanks for the correction. I had just written it as it is printed under the pic in Duchossoir's Telecaster book, which proves that "The Bible" is not always 100% correct! :)

LOL!
My pleasure.
A reference book requires some REALLY thorough proof reading to be 100% accurate from front to back. You just happened to catch me on something I know a little about is all, cuz I had one and it was a semi-controversial piece so there was more than a little discussion on it.

IMO Fender built often some " non standard " guitar not mention in any bible .
