No worries about that, I'm still not cleaning my guitars.

Hi all,

What are some good homemade solutions for disinfecting and cleaning my guitar? I only really want to disinfect it once since I just bought it used, and then from there just keep it clean once in a while.

Thanks for any info!

Remove the strings.
Wipe the neck down with sulfuric acid using a Scotch-Brite pad.
Dry off the neck using a blow torch.
Be careful not to actually set the guitar on fire.
Hendrix used to use lighter fluid, but a blow torch works much better.
That will take care of any green slime and is guaranteed to permanently disinfect the neck on your guitar.....
BTW, you may have to adjust your truss rod and intonation when done.
It will also give your guitar a really cool relic look that you would pay hundreds of dollars for from the Custom Shop!!

BMW-KTM...see Howard Hughes wasn't so crazy after all, was he? I have a BMW R1100s, what's yours? Looks like I need a new battery before springtime. What's your advise as to kind and where to purchase?

Sorry for the late response. I didn't see this until now.
I ride a K1200RSL. It's getting a little older now but it's still going strong. Sometimes I think about trading for a newer model but I'm so happy with my bike it just doesn't seem worth it. I used to have to replace my battery every spring until I bought a gel battery. They cost a ton of money and I mean a ton. I actually gasped when I saw the price but the guy assured me they were cheaper in the long run and he was absolutely right. They are. I was spending $60-75 a year on new batteries every spring. My gel battery cost $225 but it's now 6 years old and still good as new.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have a few bikes myself... '11 Moto Guzzi California, '67 Norton Commander and a '68 Triumph Bonneville.

The Gel batteries are good... but how many ordinary wet-cell Yuasa's can you buy for the same money...???

Use a battery tender in the off-season, and you'll get 10 years from a battery.

I have several classic cars, 4 bikes and 1 battery tender. Each fall, I remove all the batteries, set them on my bench, and rotate each on the tender once a week during Winter. Costs about $3/mo. to run the tender and all my batteries have lasted at least 7 years... the oldest is 12 years old.

cheers!
