It's been at least ten or more years since I last touched a guitar, and I miss my old Tele terribly. My a$$hole teacher at the time insisted I get rid of it and go back to acoustic,...I
wasn't happy about it as I was far more comfortable learning on the Telecaster than anything else. From time to time I would get 'ole arthar'(arthritis),and it made it hard to play an acoustic, hence my reason for going with an electric because an electric guitar's action was lighter and easier on my left hand,...and I found the Telecaster comfortable to play,...plus I liked it's sound. Well,...here I am looking at another Telecaster to begin learning on again and try to pick up where I left off over ten years ago. I'm 48 going on 49 next Monday. They say you're never too old to learn,...maybe I can start learning again,...on the guitar of MY choice. :) Are there any on-line guitar lessons I can try? The closest music store is over 25 miles away,so lessons in person with a teacher will be impossible ,...not to mention my work schedule which are four ten hour days a week on a rotating schedule(days off are different each week).

Hi and welcome aboard.

You can find some lessons at the Fender University.

You could also check out some good stuff on YouTube such as the TrueFire TV channel that have loads of lessons and lots of them delivered on a Tele (though the particular type of guitar doesn't really matter for your purposes).

There's a guy on YouTube called Justin Sandercore who does loads of lessons too, and many of them on a Tele.

I hope some of that helps. Most of all have fun, that's what it's all about :D

Thank you for the kind welcome. I will check those video lesson links out,...don't have my new Tele just yet,but do have one picked out along with a Blues Junior amp! Hopefully I can get going again soon! Just a matter of getting some money saved up and a down payment for lay away if need be!

I tried to learn on an old stage prop acoustic several times, but it was not doable for me. I finally figured out it would be much easier on an electric, so I purchased an Ibanez SG clone and finally kept at it. I am self taught, such as it is. Mel Bay Book 1 was where I started. Plus, I started at age 52 and have really enjoyed it all. I can read notation and like to play at lots of tunes. Good luck and have fun with your musical adventure. :D

Just checked out some of Justin's videos,...pretty nice format that he uses, but will check out the other two as well! Thanks for sharing the lesson links!
