I have a 1951 Custom Shop Nocaster (serial no. R7415) which plays like a dream, but I have some questions. I bought it second-hand, so there's a few things I really don't know about the guitar.

I'm curious about exactly which version it is, and what the "recommended" retail price for this guitar was when it was shipped out of the factory, because I see these guitars with different pick-ups, ageing, prices, etc.

How is it compared to this one? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ ... ric-guitar

Among other things this one says it have hand wound pickups. I guess that my guitar is not 1:1 comparable to this one?

I enclose the floor traveler in the bottom of this posting for my guitar, so you can compare.

Question no. 2: What is the standard pickup height for this guitar in mm?

I'm very satisfied with the neck pickup - it sounds fantastic. But when it comes to the bridge pickup, the sound is more metallic and without "personality", to use such a word. I know how a sparkling bright tele bridge sounds like, but this is not like it.

Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!
Bjørn

If you email that serial number to Fender Consumer Relations they may be able to give you the information you are looking for, their email address is consumerrelations@fender.com

Looks like you have all the info there is to have except maybe the MSRP. The specs you posted match up to the tracking of the serial number in our system.
MSRP would have been $3760 when it was originally built (2008).

On height of the pickups, I believe that the specs are in the "Support" setup section, but keep in mind that our published setup specs are kind of dialed into "Medium/average", so a little tweaking here and there is probably a good thing depending on your playing style and musical style. The important thing is not to get them too close to the strings where they would cause "buzz" from the magnetic pull. Too far....also of course, not good.
Hope that helps a bit,
All the best
rob
