I just got my first tele and it plays and sounds great. I got it used at a reputable guitar shop where I live, it was a guitar they had for rental but i fell in love with it so i bought it.

My question is i tryed to id it with the serial number but am having no luck and was wondering if you can help me. It a 60th anniversary telecaster.

According to this web site, a US11 + six digits serial number was built in 2011. Further, that you would have to check the date stamp on the end of the neck to see the actual date.

A well used web site to date Fender guitars is:

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

However, it does not recognize your serial number.

Hope this helps.

Jerry

I think I may have found out what model it is. It is an American Special I think.

If any one can confirm that would be great.

Thanks

Dave.

Dave - looks like an American Special to me. It has the 22-fret neck, vintage-style bridge, glossy finish and 70s-style headstock decal that are earmarks of the American Specials.

You can verify by sending the serial number to Fender's consumer relations department: consumerrelations@fender.com

I thought that someone else had posted an American Special with the 60th neck plate a couple of months ago, but maybe not.

Yes very possible for the American Special built during the anniversary year to have the special neckplate, many models produced in 2011 have them. I have a MIM standard that has the plate.
