You might not dig Teles, but I cannot stand Strats. The middle pickup is always in the way, the volume knob is always in the way....I think Strats are well designed, and I would hang one on my wall to be admired for its nice design, but when it comes to playing, I'll take a Tele over a Strat any day....In fact, I don't think you could pay me enough money to play a Strat, cause other than the fact that they look nice, I just can't stand Strats....

This has to be one of the worst polls ever--if that was your goal--you succeeded. And I don't like playing Teles.

The tele was the very first electric guitar. I don't think they will be discontinuing it at all.

You know, I can actually understand what you might be thinking. The thing is that the body shape is really very nice. It can stand some minor tweeks to make it more appealing, but by no means should it be scrapped. Fender is so engrossed with trying to maintain the traditional looks that they have really only touched on some of the possibilities. Nicer colours, nicer pick-guards, different p/u combos...there's really many things they can do to make it appealing to more people but I suspect that in the end, what sells is tradition.

Personally I am not a fan of playing a Tele, but that doesn't make me want them discontinued.

The Tele and the Strat are the most classic solid-body guitar designs, next to the good ol' les paul. The Tele should definitely not be dropped, if Fender gets that bored they could alter the body and make a new guitar design, that's it.

There's nothing wrong with a Tele man.

When people stop buying it, they should stop selling it.

Until then, keep up the good work, Fender (like they can hear me).

To me, some Teles are kinda ugly... but in that, it feels like a workhorse of a guitar, like it works so well that it surpasses its less than streamlined appearence, and that adds a beauty all its own.

And there are also Teles out there that are simply works of art.

Why on Earth would Fender discontinue one of it's most popular models? I personally prefer the Jaguar and Strat over the Tele, but I am in the process right now of rebuilding a '69 Tele.

After years of playing telecasters, I sold my les paul for some extra scratch and bought a strat. I must say that it has the thinnest sound of any fende rof gibson guitar I have ever played. The pickup switch always...always hits my hand when im playing a hard rhythm...anyone else have this problem?

Tele's are so simple, so perfect...two knobs, great neck and bridge sounds. My one comment would be a switch on the top of the guitar (like a les paul).

If they did, my teles would increase in value and I would be a rich man. the first is still the best!

Long live Tele's!

I find with my batch of guitars, that I tend to play a bit differently with each one. My Strat brings out the bluesy side of me, the Tele bring out all kinds of stuff and my PRS's...they just absolutely sing!

It's fun to use the different guitars to play the same tune 'cuz of the differences they bring out in my playing style.
