Hi Guys,

I've been playing a beautiful Gretsch equipped with a Bigsby over the last 6 months or so and have unintentionally put my Thinline to one side, however I'm now really eager to get the tonality and kick of that guitar back into my set up. I've fallen in love with the Bigsby on the Gretch and was wandering whether or not any one knew the ins and outs of installing a bigsby whammy on a Fender Thinline?!?!?!?!...I've been snooping around online and have seen a few that have been installed however I wanted to know whether or not theres a guide to doing it your self or whether its perhaps better off getting a professional involved! Also if theres any one on here who can recommend a trusted person (UK based) that has the ability to fit one then that would also be a great help.

Any help/ideas regarding this matter would be absolutely brilliant.

Best, Lillyman

here is a thread i started about fitting a bigsby to my JA90 thinline. not sure its going to be too much help to you as the ja90 has a gibson style bridge. however if you scroll further down theres a red tele with a genuine fender style bigsby, which im ASSUMING are a straight replacement fit.

I have done this and it is not so bad.

Assuming that you have the thinline with a single coil and humbucker then you want a bigsby b5 kit which comes with a new bridge and bridge plate as well as the bigsby.

If you have a two humbuckered thinline then just get a b5.

There is a good video on you tube showing how to fit the kit that is very helpful.

The worse bit is drilling the new holes for the bridge posts as you need a pretty powerful drill to do it.

If you don't want to do it yourself find a local tech who will do it.

If you are in London I know a couple of people who could do it and are good
