Maybe I use the wrong search strings but I can't find any info regarding the shielding of a tele guitar, only found info for stratos.

Can you point me where I can find info of shielding for my telecaster blacktop HH ?

Thanks!

Shielding a guitar is always the same ; use black conductive paint ( easier ) , or copper. Tele shielding is easier than a Strat , same receipies.

But first , why do you want to shield ? What is your problem ?

Can't hear enough to help.

Shielding is not a solution if not coming from the guitar. You hav e to be sure.

First , try amp another room , house, no cell phone, no PC

2- Try another amp
3- Try another guitar

That was the guitar directly into the instrument line of a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2.

Edit: Maybe can be the cable... I'm not in my studio so I don't have here good cables and/connectors. I only had here this 1.5mt generic cable with 2 TS cheap connectors.

I think I need to check this in home (this is in like two weeks).

But I will be doing a lot of line-recordings in home to then take the record to the studio and reamping it in a good amp.

So maybe shield the guitar is required to do a good line recording....maybe.

The Blacktop has dual humbuckers. Shielding will have little to no effect as humbuckers are by their very nature, hum cancelling.

A non shielded cavity and pickgard could induce noise in the pickup wires ( if not shielded ) .

I don't know if Fender humbucker have shieded wires .

I can't hear anything on the dropbox, but what you describe sounds like a bridge grounding problem.
I would check your ground wire to your bridge.

Just buy copper shielding tape on ebay for $0.99 and put it on the inside of the pickguard. This fixed the problem with my Pawn Shop Mustang. No more static noise. Don't pay $25 for the tape; go for the $0.99 stuff from China, which is just as good. You'll get enough tape to shield about 5,000 guitars.

Hi

His problem is not a shielding problem. The problem is a grounding problem at the bridge.

I'm looking for that in my country but I only find this adhesive copper paper that cost 4 dollars per meter.

Powdered Toast Man nailed it.

Shielding is employed on single coil guitars to eliminate (or at least reduce) 60 cycle hum. Humbuckers do that already.

Furthermore, sheilding is not the kind of job to be undertaken by an ammatuer. A poorly executed shielding job will make the guitar MORE susceptible to noise, not less. If the job is not done flawlessly you will make matters worse, not better.

It's been indicated the problem could be with a ground issue. Look into that and repair it if true and leave the shielding issue alone.

One thing you can never say now is that nobody warned you.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Yeap, but I don't quite know how to fix the ground problem.

I didn't touch my guitar yet. I never tried yo fix this stuff by myself, always hired somebody. BUT I want to learn. Also I'm not 100% noob, maybe just 95% :D

I was trying to find the schematics for the blacktop series but looks like the fender site doesn't have it.
