I'm trading a non-Fender electric guitar that sells for about $900 new or $400-$500 used and have had these offers:

Fender Blacktop HH black color (MIM)
Highway 1 sunburst color (MIA)
3PU -No model name given but maybe a Nashville?- (MIM)
Dual Humbucker (MIM)
72 Deluxe RI (MIM)

For some reason whenever I'm about to trade I receive multiple good offers at once. That's why I only trade because you can pick up some cool stuff you would never buy or own otherwise and someone will eventually come along with something you can live with even if it takes 4 months of constant posting. Been posting the current guitar for 2 months. My last trade took 1 month of posting every 2 days and was a MIM Tele and MIK Epiphone Les Paul Std Plus Top for a Gibson. Hope to get a trade done this weekend. :D

My first thought off your offers list is the Hghway One. I love these guitars and have 3 off them in different finishes. I also have a blacktop, a deluxe black dove and the 3 pickup deluxe blackout whie i like them all the Highway One gets my vote.

The Highway One is made in the USA, not MIA!

Based on the several options you have before you and evidently, you have no real leaning towards any one, in this particular situation, I'd say, pick the most popular model with the highest resale or trade value.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

I'm stuck between the Highway One and the 72 Deluxe RI Like them both and similar value.

I have a 72 Deluxe and love it. But the Highway 1 and Blacktops are great too. However, my vote would be for the '72 Deluxe

Of all those you listed, the Highway 1 is going to have the highest used market value. You'd be getting about $500 worth out of the trade.

The Blacktop would be the worst of the lot in terms of value. They're about $450 brand new, so used market value on them is going to be around $300.

I'd go for the '72 deluxe RI without a doubt. :)

If the Hwy 1 is after 2006, go for it! :wink:

They made some decent upgrades from that year on...

Doesn't MIA stand for Made in America?
I'd go for the '72.

It could I guess. But we're in the United States of America, and I never heard nor read MIA used for Made in America. So, howz about MIUSA?

"MIA" is a standard abbreviation used on almost any gear message board to indicate "Made In America". It's pretty common knowledge that:
MIA = Made In America
MIM = Made in Mexico
MIJ = Made In Japan
MIC = Made In China

I've been to a bunch of web sites and it never stuck with me that MIA is Made in America. I guess I glossed right over that over the years.

MIUSA works for me because we are in United States of America!

Is this discussed in the acronym thread?
