Hi I am choosing between these telecasters, which one would you pick? considering value for money and sound. i am looking for something that's more fat and warm but still has that tele sound.
they are all within the same price range

1) '69 thinline telecaster
2) MIJ 1989 telecaster, fitted with a bigsby
3) MIM 60th anniversary telecaster upgraded to lollar vintage T neck and bridge pickups

The only way to know which guitar is going to sound right for you is to try them out. Anyone's idea about what sounds good or what sounds just like a Tele should sound is subjective.

Trust yourself and your own experience, try a few out and see which one says "Buy me", and before you do actually pull the trigger on that guitar go away and have a coffee and think about it for half an hour just to make sure you feel right about it. That sounds like a good day out to me, have fun!

For me it would definitely be #2.

Bigsby and Teles go together like peas and carrots.

And most MIJ Fenders are excellent quality.

Me 2 4 #2 because I don't have one with a bigsby and late 80s MIJs are excellent quality.

the MIJ guitar will no doubt be the best qiality guitar there. i have an '85 '62 custom tele, and its unreal. i also have a tele with a bigsby, and they do go together like whiskey and coke. real goooooood.

however, you want something warm and fat with the usual tele sound. thats a sound i think the thinline will come closest to, though id also look at the 72 thinline for the fat humbuckers in it, though you lose the single coil bridge pup.

so, from the sound you seem to want, i reckon the 69 thinline is going to please you most. but, you should play that MIJ tele, and if you can get a sound out of it you're looking for, thats the one id get.

I believe you should try a 72 thinline. The humbuckers will give you the tone you are seeking. I have a Tele with 3 Lollars and it is a tone monster, but it is still a single coil guitar. I do play all of my Teles through a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster, which warms the single coils for those humbucker songs!

As sjlen already suggested, it's best if you can hear them (and play) first. They will have aged some so you might not get exactly the as-if-new sound. That said, I'd take the 69 Thinline (I have one) because you should very much get the classic Tele twang out of that, warmed up a bit by the semi-hollow construction.

My second choice would be the MIJ for the construction quality already noted and because I've found that some of the non-US model pups can be a bit muted. You'd miss some of the twang, but would get a warmer sound out of it.

The MIM with the Lollars. The thinline will NOT be warm toned and I personally hate bigsby or trem systems in general.

The MIM should be in better condition too, I'd imagine whoever put Lollars into a MIM standard must have cared for the instrument and it's a new model with fullsized pots and med-jumbo frets.

when you put a set of Lollars on any guitar, you mean business! I would match my Lollars up against any other pups and they will stack up nicely. Not as hot as Joe Bardens, but they will give you that classic Tele twang!

Personally I own 4 telecasters. all different. My best all around (and I love them all) is my '72 Custom - It does it all!

Own;
La Cabronita Telecaster
American standard Telecaster
Nashville Telecaster
'72 Custom Telecaster

Learning country now so the next one my list is a Classic 50's Esquire

Alllllllll of them plz. So far had a standard(sold) baja and a 50's road worn. If I can get the money together I'll next like to get the relic '52 and/or the '64 reissue just got a thing about the lake placid blue and the rose wood on the 64 looks good

'Nuther vote for the MIJ w/Bigsby. Specially if it's CAR.

I think #2 would be the warmest, but I'd go for the Bigsby!

I'd go with the Thinline, but only because I miss the one that I let get away...your reasons may differ...good luck!
