My wife got me a new guitar for Christmas and I'm trying to figure out what model it is.

She was told it was a 2010. It was made in Mexico, and has a sticker on the back of the head stock that says special edition.

Here is a pic of it. Looks like some model of Deluxe to me.

It's the special edition sticker that is interesting me. Thanks for any help.

It was a special edition or "FSR" (Factory Special Run) that was available in late 2010 at a number of stores. Basically it was the body of the MIM '72 Telecaster Deluxe with the 9.5" radius modern C neck shape that is normally found on the MIM Standard Teles. They used the vintage headstock decal on these as well. They came in that metallic surf green like yours and also in candy apple red if I'm remembering correctly.

EDIT:  that should have read 9.5" radius not 95" radius. Damn laptop keyboard.

Yes it's an FSR tele deluxe. I bought one a few months ago. The official colour according to Fender is Pearl Surf. I haven't uploaded any photos yet, I took it into some near by woods and got some good photos which I hope to share with this forum soon.

The colour looks quite different in different light settings, it's difficult to catch it's true colour on camera because there isn't just one true colour.

You can get some really great sounds out of it, try playing with the neck pickup selected by it's self and the tone turned all the way down, I've named mine Green Dog because on that setting it just barks like nothing else :D

Thanks John and Steve for the info.

I love the guitar. My wife has bought both of my teles for me for Christmas. The first one was a KOA model she got me about 6 years ago.

Love my wife!

The Koa Telecaster was a Korean-made special edition guitar which has been introduced in 2006 and discontinued a couple of years later.

Not to be confused with the USA Select Carved Koa Top Tele, which is a totally different beast.
