I'm redoing a Telecaster and I'm curious to hear anyone's comments about shielding and/or coatings, material for the pickup and controls wells as well as any information on more effective grounding because what I'm looking at with the original looks like amateur hour, albeit from an electrical engineer's perspective with little experience dealing with these. I'm just not sure about exactly how noise comes into play or could potentially come into play with these. Amps are so much easier... :-)

By the way, I'm not sparing any expense on this build so I'm really looking for the higest performance solution not an economical one. This one is going to be a personal keeper. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I do some guitar shielding with copper and black conductive paint . Both do same good job . Conductive balck paint looks better IMO and easier to use.

Fender use on some guitar .

Look for Shielding and Supplies

(full disclosure, I know nothing else about him other than I've bought several tele pickguard shields. all were perfect fits and they seem to work)

I should say , I don't like the look of copper shielding.

I bough copper and black conductive paint at Stewmac.

Brand and product for the black? Is it a spray or material?

This has been discussed a lot - here's one older thread I searched for and found:
