Hi Guys!

Just got myself a 2003 Tele Standard. Great guitar!

Thinking I might want to put noiseless pickups in it and thought I would get suggestions.

I want to maintain that classic Tele snap crackle and pop but noiseless and maybe more modern output.

I am open to non-Fender suggestions as well. I am curious about Lindy Fralin pickups.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I have these in my AVRI 52 Tele:

They sound great to me.

One word of caution, these and other stacked pickups are very tall and may require some routing of the pickup cavities for full pickup to string distance adjustment. The neck pickup just fit in the cavity at my desired height and is practically sitting on the bottom of the cavity.

Thanks. I think routing is out of the question for me. Probably gonna go with the Fenders but I wanna see what people think. Even thinking about seeing if I can just get used to the noise, but these pickups don't seem to like the gain channel on my Renegade so looking around a bit.

What's everybody else think?

Look into DiMarzio's Area T series.

I use an Area T bridge in my home made Squier Esquire. Sounds really "twangy". 8)

The bridge cavity was fine on my AVRI 52 Tele. If the neck cavity of your guitar is routed for a humbucker, you may not have a problem. But you have to keep in mind that noiseless pickups are stacked coils which means that depending on the design, could be almost twice as deep as the stock single coils. This could cause a problem with any noiseless pickup you choose. If you look at the link I sent you, the dimensions of both pickups are provided. You just need to measure the pickup cavity depths to be sure.

Try this:

http://curtisnovak.com/pickups/tel-hc.shtml

This hum-cancelling pickup is actually available for the bridge position.

Keeps the twang but not the noise.

If I were you I'd stay away from Fender Vintage Noiseless I wasn't a fan of those. It's just my opinion though :)

As always, this is IMO where YMMV.

Unfortunately, Fender stopped making the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Pickups that were designed in conjunction with Bill Lawrence, and went to the N3 which I personally, would not recommend. I have three Teles with discontinued Fender Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Pickups in them and I love those pickups.

Lindy Fralin pickups are not noiseless pickups. They do have a noiseless "system" that involves an electronic configuration regarding a special pickguard for teles and back plate for strats. I have never used it.

A lot of people like Kinman, but they are relatively expensive.

As noted above, Dimarzio Area T is another good choice.

Lace Tele Sensor pickups would be another decent choice.

But if I were you, or if I was looking for noiseless pickups, I would try Bill Lawrence's very reasonably priced L-280TN pickups:

Call and talk to Becky or Shannon.

Note - this is a different company from "Bill Lawrence USA" which has the right to use Bill's name.

I went with the Area T stacked humbucker for my Tele's neck. I sent it to DiMarzio to have the magnetic polarity reversed to North up to get hum canceling when it's paired with the mid pickup (HSSt). I have a series/split/parallel switch for the bridge humbucker and plan to add one for the Area T along with a phase reversal switch.

Since your guitar has a Strat pickup in the middle, stick a DiMarzio Area '61 and add another switch to split one of its coils.

Otherwise keep the Duncan stock.
