Before I start cutting wires and diconnecting stuff does anyone know the best way to remove electronics to make re-installation easier?

The first thing would be...don't cut any wires!!
If the guitar is a normal Tele, I would unsolder the pickup wires from the 3 way switch, and also the pickup wires to the back of a pot for grounding, noting the wires and where they were attached, and then undo the nut holding the jack socket from the jack cup, noting any washers that might be present. Then you can remove the control plate, controls and jack socket as one unit from the guitar!
After that you can remove the neck pickup, and the bridge complete with the bridge pickup, and it will be straightforward reverse of the procedure to put it all back together.
