Hey folks!

I'm very confused when it comes to the different models of tele, and how they are actually different. The products page really doesn't do a very good job of it :x

The similarities outweigh the differences in my opinion, if they all have the classic Tele pickup configuration then one things for sure, its gonna sound like a Telecaster. Think about what neck profile you want then its gonna be all about what type of music you want to play, if its heavy rock music you might consider the Blacktop, if you want 3 pickups consider the Nashville etc....

A common configuration for a Tele is the SH layout with a chrome-covered humbucker in the neck position. Fender did a Hot-Rodded American version having that pickup combo.

@John C

Interesting, Fender did not offered an American Standard Telecaster SH until now:

It's a shame the SH model is not listed on the products page. :?

Perhaps it's a modded American Standard?

Thats a new one to me. If it's not a modded guitar maybe it's an FSR for the dealer who's site you found it on. I also guess we could wait and see what is launched at the NAMM show in January and see if it's a new model.

Try the Jim Root model with the EMGs if you're a fond of Slipknot/Limp Bizkit/Staind repertoire...

Every tele is different from another. For example, Mexican tele sounds like middle-class one, highway one sounds a little bit better, American special one sounds quite good, but to advanced player there might be something missing in special series,
The best of all is to compare few models on youtube. This will get the idea for what instrument can do :D
