Hi,

New to the forum........I have been reading for a year or so that surf green had been discontinued as a color for '62 reissue telecasters. Last week I was called by a music store in Aberdeen, WA telling me they had just received a new '62 reissue surf green tele. (They know I love this color). Anyway, they were told in August/September that they would not receive it because the color was discontinued. They were quite surprised when it arrived. So I made the journey and grabbed it. It now sits with my '62 reissue Strat, which is also surf green. Needless to say I am ecstatic about my new guitar and the fact that I was able to get it new. Cheers!

The AVRI 62 is my favourite sound Tele, Fender have just discontinued the whole line and replaced it with the new AV 64.

Pretty color for the AV '62. Actually the AV '62 was completely discontinued when the new series was released in August (essentially "replaced" by the new AV '64) so you've got one of the last of it's kind. I suppose either Fender had a large enough order to put out a last run of AV '62s in the surf green, or they could have found a few "hiding" in the warehouse as they finished the run-out on AV '62s.

One of these popped up on our local CL. Never seen one before. Great color. I offered the guy my sunburst first version Highway One Tele and some cash to take care of the difference. He had it priced at $1150. Never heard back and the item is no longer up. Beaturiful guitar. Would have loved to own one.
