Hello, Loungers...

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc...

Santa came yesterday afternoon, dressed in his best UPS Brown. I couldn't wait for the 25th, so the wife blessed my decision to open up the Fender box. I figure I will be busy putting together toys, setting up games, etc on Tuesday, so why not take my new Tele for a test drive.

It's an absolute beauty! As you may recall, the first one had a nasty blem, bad ground hum and the strings were off. None of them a major concern, but all three gave me pause. I had a reasonable good experience with Musicians Friend on the return, although it took forever. I called on Tuesday to cancel my order and they gave me an overnight delivery instead! If you ever return an instrument to them, best just to cancel that order and place a new one, if you are in a hurry.

Well, Marc Lucas' (from N'STUFF) review on YouTube was spot on. This guitar retains a nice warm tone with great string definition. The finish is great with nice wood grain showing. I slapped on some new strings and did some tweaking a bit and played till about 1:30 in the morning. I really dig this guitar paired with my SS22.

The 7.25" neck radius is bit different for me, but comfortable. I like the gloss finish on the neck. I read someone else's review about the neck looking orange and that's fairly accurate. It has a nice tint. I'm big fan of the old style tuners. First tuning after new strings and they guitar stayed in tune all night.

For me, the big plus is the Wide Range Humbucker. I know a lot of folks dog these new ones, comparing them to the originals in the 70s. Since I have no experience with the originals, I can not comment on a comparison. I think this WR Humbucker sounds awesome... fat, smooth, but with nice detail. When I kick in the gain channel, it crunches nice. Not nearly as hot as my Les Paul or 335, but just smooth. Adding the bridge brings out some cool tones.

There probably isn't much I can say that you don't already know, but I am really happy with the guitar. At the price I paid, I think it's a great deal.

Thanks everyone for the comments! Have a great holiday and New Year.
