Hi, does anyone already tried a standard Telecoustic with some Overdrive or distortion on it? I saw some videos on youtube but the sound quality was not really good. So does it sound well or is it crap when you put some distortion ? thanks people :)

Telecoustics are acoustic-electric guitars with piezos. Therefore they're not suitable for distortion/overdrive unless you add a magnetic pickup into the soundhole for regular electric guitar tones.

Tom Anderson's Crowdster Plus, though an acoustic, has a magnetic pickup and can also be used as a normal electric.

There's also a Crowdster Plus 2 with two humbuckers.

Hi pal,
I have a Telecoustic... Kind of a fun toy for me. I just tried a variety of overdrive settings using a Super Champ... Its frickin great!
Listen, if you have overdrive peddles.. or any other for that mater, just experiment... Remember there are no rule when it comes to finding a Tone you like!

@bill948

I never tried playing an overdriven acoustic though I saw Ani DiFranco using this playing technique.

I think it's also possible to "overdrive" a dreadnought. Funny to hear Eric Clapton playing an electric solo with his Martin, huh? :? :shock:
