Fender posts the following guide for adjusting pickup height for its own pickups:

Texas Specials, 8/64" (bass side), 6/64" (treble side)
Noiseless Series, 8/64" (bass side), 6/64" (treble side)
Vintage Style, 6/64" (bass side), 5/64" (treble side)
Standard Single Coil, 5/64" (bass side), 4/64" (treble side)
Humbuckers, 4/64" (bass side), 4/64" (treble side)

What is the criteria for these categories (magnet type, DC resistance, henries, etc.)?

In what category would the Tex-Mex pickups fall?

Also, what is meant by "Vintage Style" and "Standard Single Coil"?

Thanks, guys.

First of all, I consider those heigths to be a general starting point: I adjust every pickup at the end by ear - it's aiming at that sweet spot, you know.

Tex-Mexes (MIM) are a lot like Texas Specials (MIA) (Alnico, overwound, high D&G poles, hot...) so I'd start with those dimensions.

Vintage/Standard - guessing it's Alnico/Ceramic..?
