I have stumbled upon someone with an interesting tele to sell. I am trying to determine if this was ever made in this configuration and if so what if fair market value. it is:
1997 american standard tele in Lake Placid Blue. so far, so good i know these were made the kicker is this has a maple neck/fretboard rather than the rosewood fretboard. They are rare enough to find in rosewood, i cannot find in maple. Serial number on the neck indicates 1997/98 corona factory. N7281142. As you can imagine this guitar is beautiful. i just want to know is it original and what would it be worth? thanks

Maple neck (Am)Standard Teles were made in 1999 and in the early 1990's; can't think of a reason why not in 1997...

Just checked: google gives plenty of pics of different color 1997 Teles with maple neck.

So: based on the neck there's no reason why it couldn't be original.
No estimate on the price, it falls between how bad the seller needs to get rid of it & how much you want it...

Actually, maple fretboards are common on telecasters. The only time they are not so common is in the 60's reissues.

In the 90's, the American standard tele was available with either option (rosewood or maple), and still is.

i understand that the maple neck is common, I have owned several. My concern is lake placid blue with maple. The only LPB american standards i can find have rosewood necks. The ones i find with maple are mim. I have used both google and bing but have yet to find a Lake Placid blue american standard tele with a maple neck - all rosewood. Making me wonder was the neck switched?

I'm not sure about whether that color was available on the '97 Am standard or not, but if it was, It was available with either fretboard.

Keep in mind, the '97 Am standard tele was equipped with the micro-tilt, The standard series was not. There would be more involved than just swapping necks for it to pass inspection of an observant individual.

Probably the only way to make you calm is to contact Fender Consumer Relations Department.
