The CS models were built in 1998, by Gene Baker.

This model has a very unique pickup configuration as it employs two Tele bridge and neck units placed together side-by-side in a humbucker arrangement.

surely the decal would be the same as the year of the original guitar ? i dont know anything about the guitar or artist, but if, say, Jorgenson had created his original tele from a '60s custom tele, or had it made in the 60's, the 'artist model' would have the same 60's decal regardless of build date ?

also, i woud imagine imagine thats a pretty difficult and involved guitar to fake and get right.

also, that black and gold one looks ace. i wonder what those pickups sound like.

Yes, that is the correct CS decal for 1998 - if they have it listed as a 1989 then they have reversed the digits. As butterscotch says these were built by Gene Baker during his tenure at the Fender CS before going off on his own (or maybe he went to that small West Coast Gibson CS that Roger Giffin ran - I always forget if he worked for Gibson then Fender or Fender then Gibson).
