I just bought a new Mexican Tele - After going through about 9 of them at the store. I found one with a nice neck, good body and warm pickups. All in all I was impressed with the value for the price.

Has anyone else had good experience with Mexican Teles? I heard alot of negatives before buying one, but I think I've found a choice one.

Are the Japanese ones really better? What about the differences to the USA built ones?

hey man, i am picking up my new nashville tele, and it was mim, and i love them. The min from teh 80's are great, got a strat, and it is a nice guitar. Imo the american teles are better than the mim, but the mim sure hold there own. And if you like the guitar, then that is really all that matters

I don't know. I love my Mexican Tele, personally. As soon as I brought it home people who heard were saying it was a really nice guitar.

All that matters is if you like it, though. ;)

MY mexican tele is great. i got in white so it could be hendrix style. i also changed the neck pickup with a humbucker. my only complaint is that the 12th fret wasn't on all the way when i bought it.

I have a vintage series '72 Thinline Telecaster Semi-hollow body guitar, and bought it about four hears ago........the tone is great, as well as the guitar itself. It was made in Mexico.....I have no complaints with the guitar.

I've played my Mex/Tele for about 9 months now, the neck is really nice, and the (Sunburst) finish is better than the finish on the Amer/Tele that was sitting right next to it for $260 more.
I beat the 60hz "hum" by swapping the bridge p/u for a Kent Armstrong hot/noiseless twinrail. This swap also gave me a truly outstanding tone, and kept the traditional "tele quack".
I also installed a Bigsby B5 vibrato and bridge kit myself, thank you Fender for your wonderful setup guide on your support page, you ROCK!

Long story short, for about $600 total investment, I now have the Tele of my dreams!

I got a Mexican Tele and I really like it. My suggestion to you is to get the action set up before you try to play live with it because it probably isn't very good out of the factory. But the sound is great! Very warm but the twang is also there.

Ihave an american deluxe ash tele, a 2002 MIM tele and a 1977 "72deluxe tele".

My favourite is the MIM one. The neck is the best one (maple). I have to say that I changed the brigde mic to a fender texas special (but I also changed the american one to a seymour duncan tele vintage).

The MIM is great and very very cheap. All the stratocasters of Walter Giardino (a guitar star in Argentina, a real heavy metal beast player) are MIM guitars.

Congratulations, you made a very good adquisition.

I have a mexican tele and it is great. I've never regretted picking it. It's really all about what your experience is with the guitar. And remember, you can always put American hardware on it. But, Mexicans are definately better than Japanese made guitars :D .

I love my MIM Baja Telecaster. I think its an acquired taste, like other things in life, you grow into it. But that being said, the MIM Fenders use the same parts that are sent to Mexico from Corona, CA and assembled. It's a NAFTAguitar. I like saving the money for essentially the same quality as MIA Fenders. Fender does have the sense to vary each model though, so no true comparison could be made. But I tried numerous versions of the Tele, and without bias to price, I still thought the MIM models sounded as good or better.

The guys in my band don't like my setup w/ the Baja. I will occasionally use my Strat Ultra to placate them. They are Strat-hounds though. 8)

I got my Tele Custom 72 a few weeks ago, MIM. I love this guitar to bits, the two gibbys haven't been out their cases since I got it. I was warned off the mexi's by a few friends. But I tried this one in the store, and fell in love with it. It sounds and looks fantastic, a real chick magnet

One of my favorite guitars is a MIM Tele (Deluxe Nashville). I've made a few modifications to it and set it up the way that I like it, but it just feels and sounds good to me.
