Hi all,
I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere so I will post it here for you all:
I own a '72 reissue Thinline and want to swap the neck pickup (Wide Range Humbucker) for a P94R. Does the guitar support this size pickup without having to make any modifications? Does anyone know the dimensions of the P94R, I can't seem to find those posted anywhere either. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I don't know what a P94R is but I do know this man makes dreamy WRHB replacements

From the MF site :

"Replacing a humbucker with the P-94 requires no routing or other damaging modifications to the guitar.

The P-94 uses the same enamel coated vintage wire and Alnico V magnets as the P-90 and comes in calibrated neck and bridge models for balanced output. Or combine the P-94 with an existing humbucker for unique tonal combinations."

It seems to me that Fender Wide Range humbuckers are slightly larger than a standard humbucker, so the P-94 should fit the body routing but you will need a new pickguard as the hole for the Wide Range will be larger than the P-94. The P-94 is the same size as a standard humbucker.

I wouldn't want to have to get a custom pickgaurd made just to swap it out. Maybe if I put a pickup ring around it?

I don't have a Fender with the Wide Ranges so I'm not sure - I've read that they are larger and they look slightly larger to me when I see a Fender with them in stores.

I would measure the size of the Wide Range on your guitar and then measure the size of the pickup ring and see if that would fill the space up for you.
