Guess I'm like the bumblebee who has been proven to be aerodynamically unable to fly, but does anyway because it doesn't know better, since I do both on my Tele!

Seagulls too! Speaking strictly by aerodynamics, they shouldn't be able to fly. Yet they do. Hmmm...velly intellestink! :D

The solo from Stairway to Heaven.

(As well as the already mentioned first album.)

Plus David Lindley's proved you can play lead guitar on ANY guitar.

Yeah the solo from Stairway to Heaven easily proves it's a lead guitar.

Just here the Albert Collins solos. Then tell me, could you image that solos with other guitar???

I play alternative rock (always hard and heavy.) I mainly use teles (90% of the time, I can say)

Brad Paisley (or one of his guitarists) tends to do a really nice job of playing lead work and solos on a Tele.

It's just that unmistakable tone and twang that you can't get from any other guitar.

I even watched a jazz orchestra last night that had the guitarist playing a tele, and he had some amazing sounding solos.

And as not so many might know, Jimi Hendrix recorded the studio version of both "Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze" on a borrowed Tele.

Tele can definatley be a lead guitar. It's much more versatile than you may think and has much more of a definitive history in music as a lead guitar.

Plus it's making it's way so much more as the model of choice. Especially as people open up to it's possibilities and capabilities.

Thanks Flamekaster. Besides I have three albums sitting in my collection where the Tele is the lead and it does it so well.

Did you know that a lot of Jimmy Page's guitar work with Led Zepplin was done on a Telecaster??
Ask Andy Summers
Ask Danny Gatton
Ask Mike Stern
Ask Brad Paisley(Yeah I know, but he is awesome!)

of course you could play lead on a tele. look at john5. he used teles on all four of his solo albums, and they came out to be legendary. he even won an award for Devil Knows my Name, which was done on a tele. you dont have to have a whammy bar to be a great lead.
