Hi,

My Tele has arrived and it's awesome. It's only a mexican but the difference between it and my starter guitar is huge.

Two questions......

1 The output jack slightly protrudes from the body(only just). Is this normal?

2 Guitar dater wont accept my serial number. It's MZ7******

Does the '7' refer 2007?

Thanks

Did you check Fender's serial number guide? Have you called Fender Customer Service? They are very nice people and do a great job for us all and deserve a chance to show you too.
As far as the output jack goes I take it you mean the cup that holds the jack; those are most likely pressed in so check it out, by opening it up and seeing for yourself; ask around at your dealer or local guitar repair shop.
If it's the jack itself you might want to put a 3/8" or so washer on the jack behind the cup as this would back the jack away from the outter surface of your axe; remember to leave 2 threads showing on the outside of the cup; this is usually sufficiant for the nut to hold the jack.

I don't think that Guitardater has updated their database to handle 2007 models yet so I wouldn't worry that it doesn't recognise it. If you're worried call Customer Service.

Did you bother to ask before you bought it what year it was?

Thanks.

I emailed Fender and got a very quick answer with the manufacture date. Top marks to Jeff Krause for his swift reply.
