I'm a new player, 2012 American Telecaster Deluxe Butterscotch Blonde. Am I better off at home leaving the guitar on a stand or putting it in the OHSC when I'm not playing it? Thanks

Either one is OK, so long as your stand isn't in direct sunlight or in a room with temperature/humidity extremes.

Now, if you want the BEST way to store it, that would be in the case - fewer temperature swings, neck support, less danger of being tipped over by the vacuum cleaner, your pants leg, Wife/kids, or the cat.

There is some advantage to having it on the stand for a new player because you're more apt to pick it up and play as opposed to digging it out of the case.

For me... a noob as well, I keep my Mex. Tele w/ Poly finish (and which I got for Free) on the stand, and my FSR AM. Vtg. Ltd. Ed. '57 Strat (w/ nitro finish) in the Hard case. That way, I can pick up the Tele whenever I want, but keep the Strat nice and safe.

cheers!

I hang mine on the wall - they can't tip over, the grandkids can't get them down, and they are right there when I want to play them.

I keep any I won't be using for a while in the cases and out of the way in a closet where the cases can stand up. Also, if they're semi- or fully hollow (and the acoustics as well), I have humidifiers in the cases for the dry months in SoCal. This isn't necessary if the humidity is in normal range and stays that way where you live.

The ones I grab for all the time are on stands ... be sure to get the kind with arms made out of something that doesn't harm the finish! (Or cover those that do with old rangs.)

The big issues here in SoCal are that it can get dry in winter and the dust. Left out and unused, your guitar gets covered but it also gets into the pots. Frequent use and moving the volume/tone pots pretty much keeps that under control. But if I'm not using one for sure for a few weeks (or a semi-/hollow for a week or more in winter), it's into the cases.

I rotate my stock so to speak. I've always got one or two out on the stand to play but the rest I keep in the case. That is indeed the best way to "store" a guitar. And a case humidifier is a very good idea especially for acoustic guitars. On the subject of stands, I prefer the kind that support the body as opposed to the ones that support the neck. There's a lot to be said for the wall hangers too. I keep my black strat hanging in the man cave just because it looks awesome there!

I keep mine on the wall so that I can look at them, get to them, and keep them safe.

HI,
All the guys on this forum ,are right, and I agree with most of them, but it depends of the way you live with your guitar(kids, pets woman so....)all the options are valuables and nothing is good enough to care your loved axe!So if it's good for you ....it's good for her but.........

There are in cases and I watch the humidity. If I had a nice music room, whey would be on the wall for sure.

Some nice shots of gear there. I have cases for all mine. When not being played they go back in the case. Try to keep it from being too cold or too hot also. Climate has an effect on them. I have 13 guitars. 1 Acoustic, 1 electric P bass and 11 electrics. If I were you I would at least get a decent padded gig bag for your Tele.
