Why are there this quite loud «humming» from my cube-amp when I have my Fender American Telecaster Deluxe (N3 pick-up's) connected?

Hi Grøstad, that's not a lot of information to go on but a few questions that may help you solve the problem (just basic stuff but nobody else has answered yet):

Have you tried plugging another guitar in to the same set up, and if so do you get the same humming sound?

Have you tried a different cabel?

Have you tried putting the amp in another room? there may be something interfering with it.

I'd also try turning the volume on the guitar right down and then back up again, and do the same with the tone controle, there may be a bit of dirt in there somewhere, also try switching the pickup selector switch to see if you have some bad connection or something in there.

Does the problem exist in every pickup selction position?

Is this a new problem or have you just bought the guitar and have this problem straight away?

Eventhough these are noisless pickups I'm sure you will sitll get some interference in some situations.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Perhaps you've got a serious ground issue, that's why your guitar hums so nasty.

I'd offer something but this dude hit all the nails, and very very straight.

Are you sure you are using a shielded instrument cable? An unshielded cable in my house picks up ESPN radio almost as clear as in my car.

Check the ground wires. I'm pretty certain this problem is also due to poor soldering.

It could be static electricity - try standing on a solid (not rug) floor
and put amp on solid area - socks and other clothes can create static
electricity too.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your replies. I am amazed by your attention. I am now also sure the humming-issue occured due to the fact that the current outlet in use, was not proper grounded or grounded at all!

You can buy a cheap outlet tester to see if the plug is grounded. I have an 80yr old home and none of my outlets were grounded. I replaced a couple of outlets with 3 prong plugs and ran a ground wire to the hot water heating system. Took care of the problem. Old houses are cool, but a lot to be said for modern and up to date ones.
