Second post on Fender, hoping I'm in the right spot. Alright, I'm trying to get a very specific tone. I recently saw the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and I'm in love with the lo-fi muffled kind of tone. However, I'm no expert on guitar tone and was hoping somebody here could give me a hand. I've got a MIM Tele, a peavey solo practice amp, and a Behringer XD-300 pedal. I'm trying to get as close to a Sex bob-omb tone as I can. I've read a few things, but none of them seem to be in agreement. I was thinking of buying a used big muff at guitar center. If anyone has any advice, please post. Also, if there isn't one, this post could be a springboard for all kinds of tone posts. Thanks!

I think the only way is by using a shotgun on your peaveys speaker . Shoot right through the cone , and good luck!

Alrighty I tried to be open minded and generally I really really am..however after researching and reading up..They are NOT a real band..it is a series of comic books..and without being totally narrow minded the only thing I saw of redeeming value after watching a few youtube vids was the rickenbacker bass..In closing..in all the videos I watched..the songs all consisted of basically 2 chords..I guess I am now officially old..because I just dont get it..

I know, I'm completely aware they're a fake band, and while talking to my friends today, they told me to basically just get as distorted and overdriven as possible. So, I guess that answers that question. Reading the replies made me lighten up a bit today, though. That's basically how most everyone over a specific age feels-This movie is stupid/pointless/I just don't get what was so great about it." But, I don't know, there's something about the tone that caught me. I think it's somewhat reminiscent of the Pixies, but a bit less...I don't know how to put it.

Zvex Fuzz Factory into a Fender tube amp will do it. Adjust the pedal for the right grit then use the amp EQ to finish it off. Also try placing a compressor before the Fuzz to pump up the harmonics.

That sounds almost exactly like what I was looking for. Thanks, man. I was thinking about a fuzz factory, but I wasn't sure. I hadn't seen that video, though. Awesome
