I have a question about this tele that I have. The previous owner of it was in a band and sold it on ebay and i didn't pay that much since the bidding started at like 50 bucks. But he said it as a 1979 Tele american made. ONLY ISSUE. It doesn't have the original neck/headstock since it broke so I have no idea of telling what year it is and all that stuff. I have a few serial numbers that I found and I took the neck off and found a C series number but of course it pointed at the fullerton series and it doesn't look like a fullerton. Can anyone help me ID this guitar?

These are the sn's that I located.
Under front humbucker 0060063-706
3 way toggle 519921 0229
neck holder 06313/ C 230063

That neck plate style is from late 80's/early 90's I believe. The saddles are the older American Standard type.

I don't think its a '79 at all.

Definitely not a 70s Fender; that neck plate pretty much starts with the American Series circa mid-2000 at the earliest (maybe as early as 1998 on American Deluxes). It could be a Tele HH - they would have been around from circa 2003-2006 and would have had that type of neck plate. Of course it could also be a complete parts guitar that just happens to have some Fender parts. Is there a micro-tilt (round metal disk) on the body in the neck pocket?

There is a round metal disc. I didn't even think about it when I was taking pictures and got that C serial number.

Look at pots , they have date code like 1378912

137 is a CTS brand

89 is 1989 and 12 it 12th week

Pre 1990 Tele don't have humbucker IMO , but I could be wrong.
Pots chrome plate appears incorrectly installed

Okay - then I am thinking that this is one of those American Series Tele HHs that were made from about 2003-2006 or so (give or take a few months on either side). Does it have an S-1 switch? If I'm remembering correctly when these first came out in early 2003 they did not have an S-1 but Fender added it about August/September (when they added the S1 to all the American Series models that had at least one humbucker pickup).

Also I bet the pickguard was changed - it was probably 3-ply black originally.

What I just don't remember is if Fender had a double-humbucker Tele in the American Series lineup any earlier than 2003 - I know they had an American Standard Tele with a neck humbucker going back to the late 1990s but I'm not remembering one in that series with 2 humbuckers at that point in time.
