GAS no doubt about it, incurable affliction that only gets worse with every purchase. Not helped by the constantly changing line up of models.

I have teles withe every combimation of pups, switches, from varoious cuntries, made of different woods etc.

I would love one of the new 52 vintage models but also have several of last years telebration models on my wants list not to mention a couple of gretsch's whilst still waiting for a rickenbacker 360/12 in ruby red i have on order to arrive.

Enjoy the axe's you have, window shop the other models, pull the trigger when the GAS gets too bad!!!!!!!

Thanks for this I think lots of window shopping is in order!

I love the look of the american vintage instruments and I also fancy a custom shop nocaster. I think i'd better stick to the window drooling!

I know part of the equation is you want to keep it all stock, but honestly, if the tone aint cutting it for you, that's such an easy change out. Just keep EVERYTHING you take out, so if the mood shifts the other way, you can always restore it to stock.

Good luck!

+1
If you should decide to sell it later , you let the buyer know he (she?) is also getting the original pups ( if requested :D )

You say that it makes you smile and you love it. That sounds like a good marriage to me. I think you should keep it.

If you are playing different styles , it is always a good thing to have different sounds ! I really look for something different soundwise if I buy a new guitar . The looks of it , can sure be making me drool - but I don't jump into it if I don't find something else to be better ..... the sound or playability

Thanks guys its all been great advice.

I am happy with the guitar and I can't wait to get out of hospital to try my new amp.

My fingers are going to hurt when I finally get discharged.

I bought a brand new American Deluxe Tele in Butterscotch Blonde back in early 2011. I loved the look of it and was a bit more vintage than the rest of the Deluxe line of Teles. I loved the fat sound with the pickup selector in the middle and the S1 switch engaged. Then after a month, the neck pickup failed. I brought it back to where I bought it. I then spent a month without my new Guitar only to be told it could be 6 months before Fender have the part needed shipped to Ireland. I got my money back and bought another American deluxe Tele, this time with the bound body in aged cherry but I never bonded with it and traded it for an American Standard Strat soon after. I have owned American deluxe models in both Strat and Tele form and will never buy them again. For what you get for the money, an American Standard suits me better.

I have recently acquired a 52 AVRI Tele in Butterscotch Blonde which looks like that deluxe Tele I had back in 2011. This one has all the vintage appointments as well as the three saddle bridge which I love, somehow it's vastly superior in every way to the Deluxe and I will never part with it.
