Alrighty, while I'm not new to guitars or even the Fender forums, I am very new to Teles. As such...umm...what's the deal with those screws for the neck pickups? Granted mine is only a lowly Affinity, but when I took the pickguard off, I realized that the neck pickup was in fact screwed into the body and the two screws on the pickguard that "look" like they should be adjusting screws, were just two screws to fill the holes I guess.

So...huh?

Like I said....dumb question...
Thanks,
Jim

Photos please.

Did you buy it new or used?

There were no fake neck pickup screws on my Affinity Tele and none shown here:

not really a dumb question, pics ould help but that doesn't not seem right to me
either.

bluesky asks a great question, is this new or used?

Most teles are setup with the neck pup set on the pick guard,

I've never seen an affinity, maybe they're just setup differently..

The link in the above post doesn't seem to show there are screws there.

If your neck pickups have a screw ech side , this should be for pickups height adjustment

The guitar was just purchased brand new...so it's from the factory this way. I'm not going to worry about pics or anything as the pickguard itself isn't even staying on the guitar...I'm making my own custom from acrylic. Was just wondering if there was some weird or interesting story or reason behind it...something with the evolution of Tele's etc,.

Not really a big deal or anything...just seemed a bit odd so I was curious...

Thanks

Before " modern area " those two screw are hiden under the pickgard . You have to remove picgard to adjust the pickups height. In modern version , you have acces to these screw by a holes in pickgard.

Is this answer to your question ?

Makes sense. I can see over the years where if folks had to take their pickguards off to adjust the pickup all the time...yea, would be annoying.

Thanks!

So glad I wasted my time trying to help you out. If you don't care anymore, I guess I don't either.
