I've finally re-strung my 2011 Tele Baja Player w/ my favorite strings - Ernie Ball Super Slinkys - and it all sounds great except for my bottom E. Linked here is a video clip of how it sounds: http://youtu.be/0hNbo1tFTF4

It's too twangy, but not in the way new strings sound as they're getting broken into. The notes don't hold out when I want to let it ring and sustain, for example. It just sounds very short.

I can't tell if the string is too close to the edge of the neck or if the bridge needs raised. Any advice?

If you changed string gauges, you need to do a complete setup. Even if you didnt change gauges, you should check the setup.

Is a guitar set-up something you'd trust Guitar Center to do? I am too much of a novice.

I had my guitar set up first by a professional luthier. After that, I learned to do it myself.

Depends on how much you trust your local Guitar Center.

+1 Bluesky , set up needed.

Yes better to learn how to , you need setup too often in a guitar player life.

I wouldn't.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.
