I recently purchased an American Tele, I would like to find out the exact date it was manufactured. Any advice on how to do this, I believe that my new Tele is a 2008, because I had to have it ordered from Fender.

to find the exact date you have to take of the neck but to find out the year just follow the link that 74 Jailbreak gave you

I just put my Tele's serial number into the link provided, it says " serial number unrecognized" :o Does this happen often? I bought it new just yesterday, from an approved Fender dealer. Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

I checked and double checked Bluestube, I put in all the required information. It came back with the same answer everytime, I don't know what else to try. Thanks for your imput though, much appreciated. On a side note, I sucessfully dated both my Gibsons. So I know I'm doing it right.

If it's a 2008 the serial numbers may not be in the database at the guitar dater project yet.

I'm not sure why you want to know bluestube, but it's MZ7011113. Perhaps it's a 2008, thanks for the info CAFeathers.

I knew it was made in Mexico bud, thanks for that. I was more interested as to why the generator couldn't give me any info on the guitar itself, especially as I dated my other two with no problems.

Fender knows when/where it was built; ESPECIALLY if you have the hang tags. I ran my Guitar Center 60th Anni. Tele through Fender twice (I lost the info the first time due to a computer crash) and both times they came through with info; however I did not ask what date it was built. I do know it's 558 of 1,000 made; it has that on the neck plate.
I called them on a case fit for that 12 string Strat I'm waiting (pant 8) pant) for and they called me back the next day to tell me it was a fit!
I was MOST impressed with their customer service department.
Way To Go Fender!
