Newbie here... Just got a '12 American Standard Tele. Lovin it!

So I pull of the American Standard sticker off the white pick guard, and it left all this gunk behind. posting.php?mode=post&f=6#

I'm reading about using lighter fluid and a cotton cloth to get it off. Don't want to ruin it.

Is that the best way to go from the vets out there?

Thanks much.

Unless they are doing something different with 2012 American Standards, that sticker is on top of the protective covering on the pick guard. Peel that off and you should have a pristine pick guard!

A red-faced newbie here! That took care of it. Never saw the pick guard's cover! Thanks.

Not a problem! I know all about the protective cover on the pick guards and yet, when I received my Custom Shop Strat, I was upset at the scratches that appeared all over the pick guard on an otherwise perfectly finished instrument. Turns out that there was a plastic cover on that guard too - it was just so perfectly adhered to the guard and showed no flashing at the edges or screw holes it looked like one wasn't there...

I went from disgusted to embarrassed in a flash!
