Hello,

I just bought a Vintage 52 RI Fender Tele Gotoh and am looking to install it on my Squier Telecaster Custom. I've looked around and am confused with how to do it. Would love to hear what you guys think about it.

If you guys need me to provide more information or pics, please feel free to ask.

Best,
Irfan

After much searching and reading, I decided to experiment with it. I managed to get it to align nicely but there was too much of a gap of a hole where the tuner sits and it became all wobbly.

Help!

It sounds like you might need some bushes to make the tuners fit the holes in the headstock. Like these...

Hello, thanks for the suggestions! Much appreciated, anyway, what do you mean by metric parts?

I checked out the site. I'm sure I'd need either the 3/8" Conversion Tuner Bushing or 10.5mm Conversion Tuner Bushing since the Vintage-style Tuner Bushing are meant for Martins or Gibsons as stated on the site but it's all codes to me cause I can hardly understand which ones are right for me.

Thanks again for the help.

Metric parts are made with metric measurements ; 10.5 mm is metric and 3/8 inches is English measurement . Most of the time there are not the same size

If you try to use american made knob on your Squier pots they won't fit because your pot's shaft are made in metric measurement and they are smaller . Understand ?

To get the correct size, you need to pop out one of the existing bushes in your headstock. Press out from the back (carefully, to avoid damage to the finish) and measure the diameter of the hole in the headstock. If it is 10 millimetres (one centimetre) across, you can fit the ones that are 3/8 inch/10 mm. If it is 10.5 millimetres across (very small increase, but makes a difference) you need the larger 10.5 mm bushes.

If you feel in any way uncomfortable in doing the conversion in case you damage the guitar, then it may be best to take it to a tech to do. It isn't a big job and shouldn't cost a huge amount. However, if you feel confident, and have the tools, by all means have a go...and good luck! :)

Yes, yes, I think I see it now. Many thanks for that, could be useful in the future when I'm on to other parts replacement.

Sweet! Now I know better. Thank you! I'll try and take a measure at it, if all else fails, I'll just bring it to the nearest guitar doc.

Thank you guys for the wonderful suggestions and ideas,
Really helped!

Best,
Irfan
