I tried posting this question earlier but I cannot see it. Sorry if it shows up twice.

Anyhow, I picked up a 94 Tele Plus V1. I am getting a phasey sound out of the red lace dually pickups in the neck.

Are these pickups toast? Thoughts?

And my amp is a Mesa Boogie Express 5:50.

Thanks for your help,

Matt

Yes, I can help you redesign your website. Please let me know your time line and budget.

For the rest of the forum, please let me know if you have any information to share regarding the lace pickups in my tele.

Thanks,

Matt

No kidding. Visit the Xhefri site.
Not mine, but maybe he'll trade for some SEO tips.
And for the rest of the forum, keep supporting Lace Sensor pickups.

Anyway, Matt. As you know there could be a number of issues.
Can you take pictures of your pickup connections?
Do you have a meter to check the capacitor or current flow?
Toppscore :)

Ya man, I checked out that site. Nice guitars but the site could use some love.

I haven't pulled the pickups to look at the connections. The guitar is going to get it set up so I'll probably ask my guitar tech to take a look. I just figured that someone might have an idea about the pickups. It's not too big a deal. Used instruments are like used cars in a way. I always expect to spend a few bucks getting it up to spec and date. Thanks for responding to my questions. I appreciate your time.

Have a good evening,

Matt

Well, I wanted to give a follow up. I took it to the shop and the pickups are working just fine. That's the good news.

The bad news...the neck is so bowed and the truss rod is very tight. The luthier is concerned about stripping the rod. He's looking for the Fender wrench that fits exactly.

So, here's my next question. I bought the tele online from a shop on the east coast. It was shipped to Denver. It was packed well and the strings were loose.

Is it possible that the heat would affect the neck this dramatically? It took about 5 days to ship.

If it's not the heat, where does the shop come into play? I do not see any warranty or return policies. That said, it's an online business that's been around for a while. They have lots of high end used gear in a relatively small community. What's fair?

I have reached out to the shop to get their feedback. Curious to hear what everyone thinks.

Thanks,

Matt
