Please give reasons why you prefer the classic player baja telecaster or the american special telecaster.

Baja is basically all the most awesome specs for a Tele except it's MIM. It's got excellent pickups and it was Custom Shop designed.

The Am Special is a bare bones USA made guitar. It's basically a Highway 1 with a poly finish instead of nitro.

If you don't care about the label, I'd go with the Baja.

the baja is the machine to go for in my opinion, it has amasing versatility, can make it sound like almost anything, feels good, plays good, looks good and sounds excelent, where ull prob end up choppimg and changing the special till it ends up beeing pretty close to a baja, however, the baja sports a old style thick c/v shaped neck and normal jumbo frets, if you like the thinner necks and the rail way line size frets then look at something else... ive got a baja... and ive used it on more gigs and in the studio than my strats... and im a strat man...

Two other differences to note (but they only matter if they matter to you):
Baja - 21 frets, 41.3 mm nut width
Am Special - 22 frets, 43 mm nut width

The Baja has the same CS pickups as the 2012 American Standard combined with the versatility of an S1 switch and a 4-way pickup selector.
