I am thinking about getting a fender american standard telecaster around february next year (2013) and want to replace the bridge. I'm not keen on the stock bridge they put on and want a vintage style 3 saddle ashtray bridge in chrome instead. Is it possible to fit this instead of the standard bridge they put in? The only reason i ask is that i dont know wether the holes for the screws will show once i put the vintage 3 saddle ashtray bridge on and if it will fit properly? Thanks.

Why not wait till you get it, you may find you like it the way it is after playing it for a while. Alternatively buy a Tele that already has a three saddle bridge there are loads of them in production, throw a stick into any music shop and you're likely to hit a Tele with a three saddle bridge.

As you're not ready to pull the trigger just yet why not go around trying a few different Teles, don't just limit yourself to the American models, you could be doing yourself out of the Tele that is just right for you. Try a Playa Baja, and a Mex Standard, plus loads of other fantastic Tele varieties. The 52 Re Issue is a Tele with the three saddel bridge and everyone seems to fall in love with them once they've played them.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, just giving you some ideas to help you to have a lot of fun between now and when you buy your Tele - and beyond. :D

Thanks sjlen I've never really looked into those baja tele's and they look real nice! I've looked into many reviews and did a lot of research on them and they seem a much better choice than the american standard now. :D They have all the things i need on paper and i love the look of the blonde color. I will deffinately take your advice and play other tele's first though. Thank's for the advice!

A vintage 3-saddle bridge will not fit an American Standard. You would need this bridge or one like it:

The American Special Tele is worth a look too, they have a three saddel bridge, are made in the USA, they are quite a bit cheaper than an American Standard, they look good and people who have them seem to like them a lot.
