Hey, everyone. I just got a MIM Classic 50's Telecaster new off of GuitarCenter. Now, it looks and sounds like a tele (two single coil pups, 3-way toggle, ashtray, etc.) At least I'd assume so, it's my first tele. :D However, on the headstock where it should say telecaster, it instead says "Esquire", with quotes. I know an esquire is basically a single pup tele. What I'm worried about is what this means. Is it part of being a fifties reproduction, or is it a quality control issue? Should I be concerned that the neck isn't the same?

i'd query it. fender make a classic 50's esquire, aswell as the '50s tele you brought. sounds to me like they got mixed up.

Well, as long as the neck is still the same actual wood, I'm fine. They're both solid maple, right? Anyways, I think, assuming that they are the same in composition, that it actually gives my guitar a bit of individuality. It's like a Custom Shop without the $5000 price tag. :P And yes, I do know that it isn't really equal to one.

i would keep it, but then ive never sold a guitar. selling it as it is would be bad news because nobody is going to believe you, and because its not right.

if you intend on keeping the guitar, then yeah id like it as a little bit of individuality.

looking at the stats, both necks look identical except for the decal.

I was just kidding about reselling it :p, I would never sell this thing. It sounds too damn awesome, but yeah, I guess they're both solid maple, so it's no big deal.
