I don't give a damn if anybody likes my playing or not. Others have said that I'm good, I think I suck, but I still try. But I don't play loud enough for the neighbors to hear me. And I'm not going to come on one of these guitar forums and totally trash somebody's tone. That is their personal tone, and is unique to them. I might not like it, but I'm not going to waste time replying and going to the "meme generator" websites just to say "I really f'n hated your sound." I could be doing more productive things. There's too much negative criticism and not enough encouragement on these forums. I'm all for honesty, but there are right ways and wrong ways to better express your honesty.

+1, the mistakes are masked by all that mush.

Lose the effects, crank a tube amp.

Why? I enjoy my rig and my effects, why should I lose my tone just because someone else doesn't approve? If I told you I didn't like the way you sound, would you change it? Nope. You'd laugh it off because My opinion matters zero to anyone who truly enjoys the style they play, and those who don't like it's opinion matters just about as much as a gospel player criticizing my playing. I'm a metal player primarily and I enjoy my tone. I'm willing to bet you enjoy yours and the style of music you play with the same passion as I.
While I respect the input, and thank you for watching it, I shouldn't have to go tube or go completely clean just to gain the approval of someone else who's not even into my style. Sorry if I offended anyone here, but I love what I play and that's about it.

+1

I recently ran into someone who was required by the leader of the band to change his guitar because he didn't like it. Are you kidding me? Tone, type of guitar, amp and all of your equipment are tools for you to get the sound you want to hear. "Hay, De Vinci, stop using paint. I think your art would look better if you used chalk."

Then you're ok in my book. I saw them supporting Biffy Clyro a few years ago, it was the only time in my life I've literally been left speechless. I'd love to see them again now having heard their records.

I grew up in Nashville, and every country guitarist played a Telecaster. So for years, I thought of the Tele as a country guitar. Joe Strummer and Chrissy Hynde changed my mind on Teles.

The one I own is a rock god!

One of my Teles is a regular heavy metal machine. It is MIJ, mid to late '80s, butterscotch blonde, hard "V" neck, vintage frets, vintage tuners, "52" "reissue." It sounds absolutely nasty through loads of distortion on the bridge pickup, and smooth as silk on the neck pickup. My other Tele (Mex Standard in CAR) sounds much smoother and a completely different guitar. My BSB Tele sounds nastier than a lot of humbucker equipped guitars that I've played.

My Am. Std. Tele can be sweet, but it can be a beast as well. It's great clean, but sometimes I switch on my Bad Monkey OD and it's wilder than a bronco.
