Post subject: who says the fender telecaster is just for country music?

just recently got me a tele...and im getting amazing tones for alternative rock, better than on my strat. so where does this myth that a tele is only good for country songs...come from?

haha, very true. the guys at the guitar shop trying to tell me not to buy a tele at all...glad i didnt listen to them. i love my telecaster....everything just sounds better on it, but thats just my opinion...im glad i didnt get a sg...haha. i may at some point though, haha.

I saw Bill Frisell play a fantastic jazz show on a Tele in Seattle. I love the sound of mine for jazz improv, maybe even more than some of the jazz boxes I own...

Well, its easy to understand when you consider the era. Leo Fender was a big fan of Western Swing and that's what was popular when he developed the Tele and Strat.
